International Women's Day...

I am a feminist. I whole heatedly support the movement and I'm proud to be a woman.

What does feminism mean to me?

It means being considered and treated 100% equally to men on all levels. Men are given so much freedom and authority over themselves and their own lives, I think women all deserve that same freedom and authority. Women are strong intelligent creatures and we should never be treated as lesser than in any occasion.

Feminism means standing up for what we deserve, for women who can't stand up for themselves (assuming they want someone to stand up for them), for the women who worked so hard for women's rights in the past and for those women in the future.

I haven't ever really been interested in politics until this year. This was the first year I was eligible to vote and take part in the election, so I did. As you can probably guess, I am not a fan of Trump. LOL. I wish there was more I could do in the moment, but I just don't know of what I can do. However, The Women's March has a few things us women can take part in to share our voices, so I absolutely did. Wednesday March 8th was International Women's Day and The Women's March had a movement where they said "women and our allies will act together for equity, justice and the human rights of women and all gender-oppressed people, through a one-day demonstration of economic solidarity." So damn right I participated.

Though I personally may not have made much of an impact, I wanted to show my support and my views on Women's Rights.

Little funny story about what happened to me on Women's Day. I was trying to pick up my birth control prescription on Tuesday night and there was an issue with my insurance and I was told it didn't cover my 150 dollar prescription! I was so peeved and paid for it, but wanted to figure out a way to get the price down. On Wednesday I called planned parenthood and everything, but apparently mine is just straight up expensive no matter where you go. I was like shoot, I'll just have to suck it up.

Luckily, I called my insurance directly and they said that my updated insurance would cover it. I was so relieved. I didn't end up having to pay the 150 for my prescription and I was sooooo happy.

You might be thinking 'why is she telling me this dumb story?'. Well, because it just goes to show how much I had to work for and would have to pay for my contraceptive. We shouldn't have to pay such high prices for vital women's health. Birth control isn't just used to not have babies!! There's other health reasons women use it. My point is that it's completely unequal to men. If men were the ones who needed contraceptives, you all know damn right it'd be free which is simply not fair and unjust.

Anyrate, this is in fact a fashion blog and not a political one, so onto my outfit deets.

THIS SHIRT, YOU GUYS, IS AMAZING! It's from Reformation.

This brand is an eco friendly clothing brand, so I'm definitely all about that. They tell you all about how much buying your items is saving the environment, in water, in carbon dioxide and waste. Why not buy a shirt or a dress from an eco friendly brand?

So it gets better. With buying this 'action tee' as they call it, they donate THIRTY DOLLARS to planned parenthood PER shirt. Tell me that isn't amazing. It's a win win; you get a cool shirt with a statement that also donated money. The other action tees they have are about different things and donate money to other programs like the ACLU and the EDF.

I suggest buying products from them.

I of course am also wearing my CVS tights, (HA!) my Stuart Weitzman's and a pair of shorts from ANGL. (They don't have the exact shorts I was wearing but they have a few similar.)

Thanks for reading you all. Again, sorry for not posting much. I've been busy with work and school as always but also feeling discouraged with my photos. But, I'm workin' on it.

P.S these are my good friends Zoë (who had the same shirt as me) and my friend Alexa. ❤

Xoxo
